USFooty – The Revolution Continues

The West Australian Country Football League and USFooty are excited to announce a joint initiative that, thanks to some organization and planning, will see five US born and bred footballers play Aussie Rules in the bush in 2009.  This exciting venture will see these players dispersed around country WA to be engaged in football, community and most of all a life experience.

New Umpiring Appointment for WA Country Football

The WACFL and West Australian Football Commission are excited to announce a joint initiative that will see for the first time a full time Manager of Umpire Development devoted to assisting country football stakeholders throughout Western Australia.

This new initiative is a result of WAFC Umpiring conducting a stakeholder review during season 2008.

WACFL General Manager, Cameron Knapton, said, “This is one of the more exciting opportunities country football has had over the last 10 years. Having a dedicated member of our team focusing on country umpiring is a huge step forwards.”

Glenn Garbin named Belt up Skipper of the Year

Kambalda Football Club President Glenn Garbin and his club have been rewarded for their commitment to the Belt up message.

Garbin was presented with his award at the recent WA Country Football League function held at the WAFL grand final. Garbin spoke with great passion about this important road safety message and highlighted that the club had been impacted by the loss of two former players in road accidents. These players are recognized with the awarding of two memorial trophies that are presented annually.

Craig Cahill honoured as RAC Football Volunteer of the Year

South West Football Region volunteer Craig ‘Chunky’ Cahill has been named the 2008 RAC Football Volunteer of the Year.

Mr Cahill is a life member of both the Capel-Dardanup and South Bunbury Football Clubs and was announced as the winner ahead of 16 other Regional and District Finalists at the 2008 Sandover Medal last night. South Bunbury Vice President Ralph McColl nominated Chunky for the award and spoke of his volunteer work for the club.
