Goldfields Regional Roadshow

The Goldfields Regional Football Development Council in conjunction with the West Australian Football Commission and the Department of Sport and Recreation are bringing Game Development to Kalgoorlie in the form of the Regional Roadshow.

Kalgoorlie - 10th-14th June 


The roadshow is open to all people with an interest in making their football or sporting experience better.

As part of the Roadshow there will be experts from the WAFC Game Development Team visiting the region to provide presentations workshops and inservices on a number of critical topics related to the delivery of sport.

Umpire - Dean Margetts the 350 game veteran AFL Umpire will be in town from the 10th-12th June, visiting schools and local umpire groups to share his knowledge on umpiring along with umpire training and officiating across all sports.

Dean will be facilitating a number of sessions aimed at a variety of different groups.


Coach - Glenn Morley the WAFC COaching manager will deliver a session on Personal Development as a coach, and touch on the coaches ability build culture within their team through developing their relationships with players. This session will also look at ways to measure success and development, and all attendees will have the opportunity to complete their own coaching development plan.

To support the theory side of coaching Craig Walker the WA Country Football League State Coach will also be in Kalgoorlie to deliver a practical session on how to train more effectively, and develop skill in your squad. This practical session will provide coaches with a range of drills and practical advice that they can transfer to their teams traiing sessions straight away.

Club and Volunteer Development - Warren Nel the General Manager of Game Development will be joined by Joe Georgiades the WACFL General Manager as they discuss the role of leadership in sport, and how strong leadership can come from everyone within the club. Leadership will also be the focus on how clubs can engage and grow in synch with their everychanging community.



Engaging with Schools - The WAFC Education Manager Sharon Wilson will also be in town to Discuss the hugely successful AFL School Ambassador Program - for any clubs looking to engage better with their local schools this session will provide with the tools needed to utilise the positive opportunites that a close and strong working relationship with locals can have on a community club.

TOP Club - The regional roadhsow will also see the official roll out for the WAFC in the WA Sports Federations TOP Club program. The Top CLub program works within the framework of the Swisse AFL Quality CLub Program and will assist clubs to look at planning and culture. This exciting new program will greatly assist clubs to understand how culture is developed and get their club moving forward with a strong culture as the foundation.

Football Forum - Do you have a great idea you want heard - or have a burning question you want answered then the Footy Forum is your opportunity. The forum will be a facilitated discussion with local football leaders and the guests from the WA Football Commission. The intent is to discuss the hot topics of the days and share information on the current health of the game and where it is heading over the next 5 years
