Mad Dog Notches up 250

THE East Fremantle Amateur Football Club will celebrate the 250 game milestone of Daryl “Mad Dog” McLachlan this weekend when they tackle Dianella Morley, this Saturday the 14th May at Winnacott Reserve.

In a career that has spanned 15 years, “Mad Dog” is known as a hard working and loyal East Fremantle clubman, always willing to help out off the field and do the one percenters on it.

WAAFL Honours Football Champions

THE WA Amateur Football League inducted four new members into its Hall of Champions last night in an event held before more than 200 people at Patersons Stadium.

Now in its second year, the Hall of Champions concept honours great contributors to the WAAFL as well as those who began their careers at an amateur level before going on to contribute at higher tiers.

Last night’s inductees included Simon Beasley, Gary Buckenara, Rob Hendrie, Terry O’Connor, Bill James, Colin Jamieson, George Meiers and Billy Orr.

New Coaches for West Coast Eagles State Amateur Colts

THE West Coast Eagles State Amateur Colts team are set to take on the CBH Country Colts next Friday, the 13th May at Sir Ross McLarty Oval in Pinjarra with a new look coaching line up.

Daine Burnett heads up the new coaching panel, taking over from Andy Leinasars who moves on after a successful time with the program. Burnett is a Level 3 accredited coach who has extensive experience in player development, spending time as part of the State 16’s coaching panel.

Joining Burnett are Clint Gardiner, Devin Martin and Sam Cavicchio, all who have experience in player development. Gardiner has spent time in the WAFL Development Program and at amateur level and Martin has experience in the WAFL Development Program, WAFL Colts and amateur level.

Warnbro and Fremantle CBC Launch Integrated Season

THE 2011 integrated football season kicks off this Saturday as new side Warnbro tackle Fremantle CBC at Warnbro Sporting Complex.

After hosting “Come and Try Days” last year, Warnbro has joined with the High Wycombe Amateur Football Club in entering a side into the inaugural integrated football season.

They start their integrated football campaign this Saturday, May 7th when they tackle Fremantle CBC, immediately following the WAAFL League match between Warnbro and Thornlie.

WAAFL Making History at Hall of Champions

As a part of its 90th year celebration and for the first time in Australian Football history, the WA Amateur Football League has brought together best and fairest medals from the AFL/VFL, WAFL and SANFL for display at its Hall of Champions dinner, May 11th at Patersons Stadium.

Awarded to Ross Glendinning, Ian Dargie and John Duckworth respectively, the Brownlow, Sandover and Magarey Medals will be on display together for the first time in football history.

Carlisle Superstars and Legends Game

THE Carlisle Amateur Football Club will celebrate its 50th year in style on Saturday, May 7th when the Carlisle Legends take on the Superstars at Carlisle Reserve, Carlisle.

The match will take place following the league game between Carlisle and Coolbinia West Perth with bounce 6:00pm.

Randalls Roasts will be serving food from 5:30pm till 9:30pm and night of fun and fellowship will be completed post game with music in the club rooms till late.

Ladies Day at Brentwood Booragoon

ON Saturday April 30 Brentwood Booragoon Football Club will host its annual Ladies Day at Karoonda Park, Booragoon.

Originally devised as a way to recognise the off field contribution made by the women behind the club’s players, Ladies day has developed into a full community wide event. It’s a chance for Brentwood Booragoon FC to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer research with all players wearing Pink armbands and donating part of their match fee to the worthy cause.

West Coast State Amateur Program Update

THE first training sessions for the West Coast Eagles State Amateur U/23’s and Colts sides will be held this Wednesday the 13th April at Light Street in Dianella with Colts training beginning at 5:30pm and U/23’s 6:30pm.

Both representative programs will run for eight and nine weeks respectively with the Colts program culminating in a match against the WA State 16’s as a curtain raiser to the West Coast Eagles match against Gold Coast on June 4th and the U/23’s participating in the National Carnival in Adelaide from June 8th to the 13th.
