It is as simple as getting a group of at least 9 mates together and registering a team for the upcoming season. Mixed teams must include a minimum of 3 girls but we strongly encourage teams to aim to get as many girls as possible. Can’t get a team together? You can register as an individual player and will then be allocated to a team.
AFL 9s is a great pathway into umpiring as well as a great alternative to the traditional umpiring. All AFL9s umpires are provided with a training night to ensure they are competent and understand the changes to the game. AFL9s umpiring is also a great opportunity for umpires to get involved in footy at a social level. Everyone can be an AFL9s umpire, so get involved!!
The WAFC is looking for motivated individuals to run AFL 9s competitions throughout the metropolitan area. This is a great way to involve yourself in sport whilst getting some personal development outcomes at the same time. A key to this role will be communication with teams and umpires as this will create the social culture we are striving for. This is a perfect opportunity to earn some money and get some precious experience within the sports industry.
