SNESA Angels spreading their wings

The SNESA Football Club (formerly known as Saint Norbert’s Football Club) and the Perth Demons Development District have made a bold move to provide a playing opportunity for female footballers in the Perth District.

After extensive planning and organisation during the off season, SNESA is proud to launch the inaugural training session for the fledgling team affectionately dubbed the ‘SNESA ANGELS’ with plans to field their new side in the WAWFL’s Charmaine Rogers 20/20 pre season Cup.

“I’m pleased to announce that the SNESA Angels trained for the first time on Tuesday, February 8 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm at Queens Park Reserve, on Treasure Road in Queens Park.” Said SNESA President Nick Rynne.

“The Angels will join our male teams under the SNESA banner as we move toward being a complete community club.”

The male teams play under the ‘Saints’ mascot and they are proud to be adding a female side.

“We are holding our pre-season over at Treasure Road until we move to our home Wyong Reserve at the conclusion of the cricket season.”  Mr Rynne added. “I am also pleased to announce that former Southern River Coach and State Assistant Coach Todd Nash will lead the team in 2011.”

The Demons District is happy to be continuing to offer females opportunity to play in their District.

“We are very excited about this opportunity, the quality club culture and environment at SNESA as well as the facilities at Wyong Reserve will contribute to the successful implementation of this side into both the footy club and into the WAWFL.” Demons District Manager Scott Faulkner said.

The new side also enjoys the support of WAWFL board member Tash Hazell who has been working tirelessly to provide this opportunity to females on her patch. “This is a wonderful opportunity and great result for female participation in the Perth Demons District.”  Said Ms Hazell who is a WAWFL veteran herself.

The team is for anyone who has played, wants to play or would like to have a try at Australia’s only indigenous game. All are welcome no matter how much, or little experience they have.
