In less than three months time on June 7 in South Australia, the 2011 AFL Women’s National Championship will get underway. Exactly two years earlier, the 2009 competition drew to a close in Perth after a competitive grand final between WA and Victoria at Patersons Stadium.
WA finished the tournament as runners up in what proved to be an emotional week, full of highs and lows. Notable wins against Queensland and ACT along with an inspired grand final performance were offset against a disappointing defeat in the round robin stage to Victoria, and the loss of some players to injury.
