Round 2 Reserves and Colts WrapWednesday, March 29, 2017 - 1:42 PM - by Chris Pike

THERE were once again some impressive reserves performers in Round 2 as they push their cases for a league call up along with some terrific efforts from youngsters in the REDiMED Colts.

The three reserves matches on Saturday saw Peel Thunder beat East Fremantle 14.6 (90) to 14.4 (88), Subiaco defeat Perth 19.12 (126) to 9.6 (60) and South Fremantle down Swan Districts 10.11 (71) to 6.9 (45).

Then on Sunday at HBF Arena, West Perth beat East Perth 10.9 (69) to 8.3 (51).

And in the REDiMED Colts on Saturday, Peel Thunder defeated East Fremantle 8.8 (56) to 6.8 (44), Subiaco beat Perth 15.12 (102) to 6.10 (46) and Swan Districts scored a big 18.15 (123) to 7.8 (50) victory over South Fremantle.

Then on Sunday, West Perth prevailed over East Perth 11.6 (72) to 8.7 (55). 

STANDOUT RESERVES PERFORMERS
Peel Thunder's reserves capped off the winning day at Bendigo Bank Stadium with it being the first time the club has won all three grades since Round 5, 2012 against Swan Districts.

Peel defeated East Fremantle by just two points on the back of four goals to two in the final quarter.

Nick Merritt was the star in attack kicking six goals while Cameron Hayden booted three and Corey Ugle two.

Haydn Matthews gathered 23 possessions for the Thunder, James Kirby 19, Chris Wrigley 19 and Noah Hura 16.

Alex Howson kicked five goals for East Fremantle and Jack Perham four after both played in the league side in Round 1 against Claremont.

Dion Anthony also responded to his demotion racking up 46 possessions, 11 tackles, eight marks and a goal for the Sharks.

Ben Harding gathered 29 disposals for East Fremantle, Corey Holmes 20, Brendan Tingey 20 and Miles Franklin 18.

Subiaco's reserves scored a commanding 66-point win over Perth at Leederville Oval.

Ben Sokol kicked six goals for the Lions and Dylan Nelson four.

Adam Cockie racked up 27 possessions for Subiaco, Daniel Leach 24, Braden Fimmano 22, Alex Thurkle 19 and Liam Baker 17.

Marshall Jones kicked three majors for Perth and Callum Papertalk two.

Kurtis Chester compiled 23 possessions for the Demons, Callum Marshall 22 and Chris Leonard 20.

South Fremantle's reserves kicked six goals to two after half-time to beat Swan Districts by 26 points at Steel Blue Oval.

Mitch Dzelebdzic, Caleb Datson and Tyson Pickett all kicked two goals each for the Bulldogs.

Daniel Burke gathered 31 possessions for South Fremantle, Chris Luff 28, Jake Florenca 27, Jarrod Parry 22 and Chad Pearson 18.

Brody Sutton kicked two goals for Swan Districts with Ethan Maguire racking up 32 possessions.

Jackson Slater also had 29 disposals for Swans, Jacob Ness 29, Logan Hughes 27, Ben Whitsed 26, Mitchell Mackenzie 23, Josh Cipro 22, Brayden Hackett 20, Jesse Manton 19 and Jacob Coniglio 19.

Then on Sunday at HBF Arena, West Perth's reserves made a winning start to its season beating East Perth by 18 points.

Brayden Antonio starred for West Perth with 27 possessions and three goals while veteran ruckman Chris Keunen also made a statement with 27 disposals, seven marks, 52 hit outs, six inside 50s and a goal.

Mitchell Peirce amassed 30 possessions for West Perth, Aidan Lynch 28 (14 tackles), Alexander Coe 25 (eight tackles), Conal Lynch 21 (12 tackles), Mitch van Berlo 20 and Kael Coleman 19.

Ben McGillivray also kicked two goals for the Falcons.

Nathan Eaton and Mark Longbottom booted two goals apiece for the Royals.

Steven Payne picked up 34 possessions for East Perth, Julian Ameduri 18, Paddy Brophy 18 and Kane Hadden 17.

REDiMED COLTS SHINING LIGHTS
Peel Thunder's winning day began at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday with the colts beating East Fremantle by 12 points.

Lee Chapman kicked three goals for Peel and Aaron Naughton two.

Kyle Havelberg gathered 27 possessions for the Thunder, Lachlan Riley 22, and Brynn Osborne 17 along with seven inside-50 entries and six marks.

Drew Blurton kicked two goals for East Fremantle from his five kicks.

Jayden Quill had another good game for the Sharks with 25 possessions while Gabriel Parfitt gathered 23 disposals, Jaimon Alone 23, Liam Rajanayagam 22, Ambrose Ryan 18, Cameron Davidson 18 and Dylan Campbell 18.

Subiaco's colts scored its first win of the season beating Perth by 56 points at Leederville Oval on Saturday set up with an eight-goal to one second quarter.

Christian Martin kicked four goals for Subiaco and Mitchell Hughes three with Corey Young also booting two.

Max Dennis gathered 28 possessions for the Lions, Nicholas Baroni 28, Matthew Pannell 25, Wil Hickmott 25, Kyron Hayden 24, Luke Foley 22 and Tristan Hobley 21.

Ruckman Ben Miller also did well to end up with 16 disposals, four marks, 30 hit outs and a goal.

Luke English, Caelen Bennell and Chilton Yarran Jnr all kicked two goals apiece for Perth.

English also amassed 30 possessions for the Demons with Ian Hill gathering 26 disposals, Sydney Stack 20, Bennell 18 and Brodey Eades 16.

Swan Districts continued its hot start to the colts season with a big 73-point win over South Fremantle at Steel Blue Oval.

Joseph Hinder booted five goals for Swans with Stephen Hay kicking three goals, Atem Deng three, Aidan Clarke three and Lachlan Ebsary two.

Graydon Wilson racked up 20 possessions for the black-and-whites, Gregory Humphries 20, Clarke 19, William Reidy 17, Lochie Huntley 17 and Malaki Rodoreda 16 to go with seven tackles.

Ruckman Oskar Matthews also finished with 12 touches, four marks and 26 hit outs for Swan Districts.

Jesse Mason kicked two goals for South Fremantle while Kyle Hamersley racked up 27 possessions, Nic Giarrizzo 25, Ben Sherry 23, Glenn Byron 19, Michael Redman 19, Zane Sumich 19 and Brodee Knight 17.

John Frampton had another good performance in the ruck for the Bulldogs with 14 possessions and 25 hit outs.

West Perth's colts started the Falcons' winning day over East Perth at HBF Arena on Sunday with a 17-point victory having come from 16 points down at half-time.

Kurt Monaghan was the star for West Perth booting six goals from 10 kicks and six marks. Daniel Rowe also kicked two majors.

Connor West racked up 29 possessions to go with nine tackles for the Falcons while Josh Hunter finished with 25 disposals, Dylan Yem 25, Bailey Chalmers 22, Alec Johnson 19 and Corey Kirwen 11 to go with 17 hit outs in the ruck.

Matthew Young kicked two goals for East Perth with Jaxon Cahill finishing with 28 possessions for the Royals, Christian Ameduri 18, Jake Dugan 16 and Eric Bashemule 15.
