WA Day celebrations at the WAFLWednesday, May 31, 2017 - 5:05 PM

Four massive WAFL clashes are set take place over the WA Day long weekend with a range of fun activities and events planned for all fans at each game, as part of the WA Day celebrations.

WA Day is about celebrating everything WA; the spirit, culture and heritage of our great state. The rich history of football in the WA community stretches back to 1885 and today it is the most popular sporting code in the state with more than 287,000 active participants.

Running races, kicking competitions, raffles, food trucks, and bouncy castles are some of the many activities taking place at WAFL games this WA Day long-weekend.

Footy fever kicks off on Saturday when Peel Thunder host reigning premiers Subiaco in a Grand Final rematch at Bendigo Bank Stadium, while Perth take on Swan Districts at Lathlain Park. The WA Day Public Holiday makes way for two blockbuster derbies; East Fremantle take on South Fremantle at East Fremantle Oval and East Perth clash with West Perth at Leederville Oval.

Peel Thunder v Subiaco
Saturday June 3 – 2.15pm

Peel Thunder is encouraging all its fans to take part in the Mandurah Coastal Times ‘Are you a Peel Thunder Fan?’ competition by simply uploading a match day photo. Those who enter go in the running to win a team merchandise pack. The McDonald’s Mandurah Forum handball competition will also take place at half time.

Perth v Swan Districts
Saturday June 3 – 2.15pm
Lathlain Park

Perth is encouraging its fans to dress up, and fly the team flag in the Perth FC District Parade at Lathlain Park for a chance to win some great prizes. There will be a Kidz Zone featuring a bouncy castle and face painting at the game, as well as running races and kicking competitions at half-time with fantastic prizes for fans to win.

East Perth v West Perth
Monday June 5 – 2.10pm
Leederville Oval

There will be plenty of activities for the kids to take part in at the WA Day Perth Derby. These include the Royals District Parade, Royals Footy Fun Zone which will feature face painters and other great activities. There will also be a $5 sausage sizzle and drink station and young fans can participate in the Royals Colouring Competition and go in the draw to win some great prizes.

There are plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained at the WA Day derby! Kids 15 years and under can enjoy the Sharks Kidz Corner which has a bouncy castle, gym bus, balloon twister, as well as, face painters. There will also be a running race at half-time with prizes up for grabs and a great selection of food and drink will also be available at the Carlton United Brewery pop-up bar and food trucks located on the bank.
