Five WA talents added to AFL Rookie listsTuesday, November 28, 2017 - 8:48 AM

THE West Australian Football Commission congratulates the five WAFL players added to AFL Rookie lists during today’s AFL Rookie Draft.

They included Bailey Banfield (Claremont), Ryan Burrows (South Fremantle), Liam Baker (Subiaco), Gordon Narrier (Perth) and Callan England (Claremont).

This takes the total number of WA players drafted in 2017 to 20, including 15 in the NAB AFL National Draft on Friday, November 24.

WAFC CEO Gavin Taylor congratulated all of the WA draftees on receiving the opportunity to fulfill their AFL dream and thanked the WAFL clubs, community clubs and Deppro WA State Academy for guiding and supporting each player’s development.

“To see these players receive an opportunity at an AFL club is a great outcome and testament to the outstanding role that clubs, coaches, and support staff play in developing top talent at every level in WA. Everyone who has been part of these players’ journey should be very proud,” he said.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the WAFL clubs to enhance talent development in Western Australia even further and give our most talented players the greatest possible opportunity to reach their highest potential.”
