Another two WA players added to AFLW listsThursday, October 25, 2018 - 4:00 PM

West Australians Kirby Bentley and Katie-Jayne Grieve have been added to AFLW lists after being signed as free agents following the 2018 NAB AFLW Draft this week.

The pair have swapped clubs, with Bentley joining Carlton after a stint at Fremantle in 2017, while Grieve heads to the Dockers after two games with the Blues in 2018.

Bentley was initially recruited by Fremantle from Swan Districts as a priority selection in 2016 and played all seven games in the inaugural AFLW season before suffering a knee injury.

As a role model and mentor for young Indigenous females, her name bears the title of the largest Indigenous girls’ football event in WA – The Kirby Bentley Cup.

Katie-Jayne Grieve only started playing the game two years ago, where she finished runner-up in South Bunbury’s best and fairest and was named in the 2017 South West Football League team of the year.

Her tenacity saw her picked up by Carlton on the rookie list where she broke through to play two AFLW games in 2018.

Grieve returned to WA to play for the Peel Thunderbirds for the 2018 WAWFL season and won the club’s best and fairest in a year where they finished second on the ladder.

Bentley and Grieve join 10 other West Australians players added to AFLW lists for 2019.
