School favourites back as Eagles partner new programThursday, April 17, 2014 - 11:27 AM

West Coast Eagles ruckman Nic Naitanui officially launched the start of the West Australian Football Commission and West Coast Eagles school football programs at Patersons Stadium on Tuesday, April 1.

Special guests attended the official function, where Naitanui also reflected on his own school football experiences.

During Term 2 and Term 3 of the school sporting calendar in 2014, the WAFC and the West Coast Eagles will showcase the Eagles Cup competition and Eagles Faction Football program with the support of BHP Billiton.

WAFC Schools Competitions Manager Clayton Anderson said that school football in Western Australia was very fortunate to have such quality and passionate partners dedicated towards the ongoing growth of school aged football.

“The programs significantly contribute to the physical, psychological and social well-being of school aged children,” he said.

“I am also delighted to announce that the West Coast Eagles and WAFC will strengthen their alliance of school football this year with the club now also partnering the Eagles Schoolboys Cup program.

“The Year 8/9 Schoolboys Cup program was formed in 1983 and caters specifically for lower school boys. The competition is played right across WA with the aim of producing a champion School to represent each of the nine WAFC districts,” he said.

“Approximately 6000 students will participate in 2014 and secondary school football is extremely grateful to have program partners of this caliber contributing to school football in Western Australia.”

The WAFC, West Coast Eagles and BHP Billiton are totally committed to the Eagles Cup and Eagles Faction Football concepts, with the partnership providing a clear direction for the provision of appropriate pathways for all boys and girls in safe, enjoyable and accountable environments.
