WAFL State Squad updateTuesday, May 20, 2014 - 12:47 PM

THE West Australian Football League has announced its leadership group and changes to the initial State Squad for this weekend’s State game against the North East Australian Football League in Sydney.

East Perth’s Brendan Lee has been appointed as captain and Tallan Ames (Swan Districts) and Paul Bevan (Perth) as vice captains.

West Perth’s Nicholas Rodda has been added to the squad.

Wade Twomey and Lachlan Delahunty, both from Subiaco, have withdrawn from the squad with injuries.

Brock O'Brien (East Fremantle), Rory O'Brien (East Fremantle), Chris Phelan (Subiaco) and Justin Simpson (Swan Districts) were unlucky to be excluded from the squad despite being in great form for their respective WAFL clubs.

The representative match has been moved from Spotless Stadium to Blacktown International Sports Park in Western Sydney.

The game was originally scheduled as a curtain-raiser to the GWS Giants and Richmond AFL clash, but due to concerns for the welfare of the Spotless Stadium surface in the wake of the Easter Show, the match has been relocated to Blacktown at 12pm EST on Saturday.

The game will be live streamed via the NEAFL website, with a full replay available soon after the conclusion of the match.

The final WAFL side of 23 will be named at a jumper presentation following training at Patersons Stadium from 5.30pm-7pm on Wednesday, May 21. The final squad will fly out on Thursday, May 22.
