Dennis-Lane played every game for Subiaco this year and also won the leading goal kicker award after kicking 66 goals for the season.
He was invited to train with the Fremantle Football Club this pre season and was very excited about the prospect of playing AFL for the Sydney Swans in 2010.
“To get drafted is a massive honour, I’ve been working towards this for many years and it feels great to finally achieve this goal,” he said.
Subiaco chief executive officer Jeff Lind said: “In recent years we have seen mature aged players in Brad Smith, Matt Priddis, Greg Broughton, Adam Cockie and now Trent Dennis-Lane being drafted after having played league football in the WAFL.
"This is a tremendous boost to those boys who miss being drafted at age 17 and 18 and gives them confidence that the WAFL system is geared to development no matter what age the player is.
"We are excited for Trent and congratulate him on the manner in which he has worked to put himself in this position.”
The Subiaco Football Club would also like to congratulate Greg Broughton on being elevated to Fremantle Football Club's senior list.
