Each recipient represents the very best of community football volunteering – tireless service, genuine leadership and an unwavering commitment to young people, clubs and the growth of the game.
Please see below profiles of all of our newest life members.
Shaun Hughes – Metro Central RDC / East Perth District
Shaun Hughes has been a cornerstone of community football in the East Perth District for more than a decade.
His service spans across multiple leadership and governance roles, including Competitions Director, EPDFDC Chair and long-standing East Perth Junior Delegate on the Metro Central RDC. Alongside his district and regional work, Shaun has also held several key volunteer positions at Ellenbrook Junior Football Club, including Club President, while remaining a strong advocate for junior football, umpiring development and WAFL club engagement.
Widely respected for his knowledge of the game, his balanced approach to governance and his willingness to support clubs through both challenges and growth, Shaun has played a central role in shaping junior football across the Metro Central region.
His passion, integrity and consistent contribution over many years make him a thoroughly deserving recipient of RDC Life Membership.
Ryan Ramage – Metro Central RDC / East Perth District
Ryan Ramage’s contribution to community football is defined by both depth and resilience.
Starting his journey as a volunteer at Ellenbrook Junior Football Club, Ryan became involved across multiple areas including Auskick, social media, governance support and match day operations. In 2018, he joined the East Perth District Football Development Council as District Registrar, where he significantly improved fixturing standards and administrative processes across the zone.
He later took on a similar role with the Perth District Football Development Council before becoming Secretary for all three Metro RDCs – Central, North and South. In this capacity, Ryan has made an enormous impact on events, competitions and the operational delivery of junior football across the metropolitan area.
Despite facing personal health challenges, Ryan has continued to serve the football community with humility, dedication and a solutions-focused mindset. Highly respected, approachable and generous with his time, his recognition as an RDC Life Member reflects not only his contributions, but the spirit in which he has made them.
Tam Maloney – Metro North / West Perth District
Tam Maloney’s journey in football has been built on commitment, reliability and an incredible willingness to step in wherever she is needed.
She began volunteering in 2010 with Yanchep Districts Junior Football Club, taking on roles including Trophy Coordinator, Registrar, Vice President and Gala Day Coordinator. In 2017, she became the West Perth Junior Registrar, overseeing fixtures and competitions for Year 3 to Year 6 competitions across the district.
From 2020 to 2025, Tam served as a Metro North Match Day Official, ensuring the smooth operation of junior competitions each weekend. In this role, she provided guidance and support to team managers, coaches, umpires and officials, while also coordinating grand final pennants and medals to maintain accuracy, fairness and professionalism.
Her work extended into community education, coordinating the Yanchep Gala Day and embedding the “Enough is Enough” drink-driving education program into the event, demonstrating a strong commitment to safety, leadership and youth education.
Tam’s contribution across Yanchep Districts, the West Perth DFDC and Metro North junior competitions has been integral to the growth, stability and professionalism of junior football in the northern corridor.
Julia Selden – Metro South RDC / South Fremantle District
Julia Selden’s contribution to junior and community football spans more than 15 years and reaches far beyond traditional volunteer roles.
Her football journey began at Kwinana Knights Junior Football Club, where she served as a team manager for over five years, a general committee member and later as Club Secretary. Working closely alongside then-President David Acker, Julia played a key role in introducing new initiatives and helping build a strong, connected club culture. She even donated and developed the club website, which remains active today as a living archive of the club’s history and community.
Julia later became a valued member of the South Fremantle District Football Development Council as the district’s Indigenous and Multicultural Representative, where she supported multiple programs and initiatives aimed at inclusion and participation growth.
She was also deeply involved in some of WA Football’s most impactful community programs, including Night Fields at Kwinana, Armadale and Pinjarra, which engaged at-risk youth through sport and community partnerships. In 2017, the Kwinana Night Fields program recorded the largest attendance and engagement across the metropolitan region.
Julia also supported initiatives such as the Kick Start Program, Boomerangs Team, Kirby Bentley Cup and Nicky Winmar Cup, consistently demonstrating her commitment to reconciliation, inclusion and youth development.
In her role as a WAFC Match Day Official, Julia attended games season after season, often in difficult conditions, supporting clubs, players, officials and umpires while fostering safe, respectful and positive match day environments. Even after stepping away from formal DFDC duties, she continues to volunteer each year during finals as a Match Day Official, a testament to her ongoing passion and dedication.
