Coaching accreditation
The coaching accreditation structure features five distinct types – Registered, Registered Accredited, Bronze, Silver, and Gold, allowing you to progress at your own pace, develop your skills, and make a greater impact on players depending on how far you want to take your coaching journey.
< 90 points
You’re a registered coach but haven’t completed any training, you won’t be able to coach a team at this level
90 points
This is the minimum requirement for you to be able to coach on game day
100 Points
You’re beginning your coaching career, at Bronze level you’ll be able to access extra learning modules and video content
200 Points
You’re growing your impact as a coach. At Silver level, you’ll gain access to extra learning opportunities, exclusive development sessions, and recognition for your ongoing commitment to improving your coaching craft.
400 Points
The Gold Tier is the top level of coach accreditation – a recognition of excellence, commitment, and leadership in the coaching community. To be a Gold Tier coach, you’ll need to complete the Advanced Coaching Course.

Yes! CoachAFL accreditation is the National Accreditation standard and has been developed in conjunction with all state and territory affiliates.
Foundation accreditation is the first level of accreditation and provides accreditation for coaches at a community, school or recreation level. It is recommended that coaches complete the Foundation Coach course relevant to the playing age they coach. E.g. A coach of an Under 10s team should complete the Junior Coaching Course.
CoachAFL Memberships and Accreditation expire at the end of each calendar year on December 31. At the beginning of each season coaches need to update their membership as this is connected to your registration as a coach.
