The 2025 Metro Junior Community Football Awards lit up Optus Stadium on Friday night as metro junior football clubs, volunteers and communities were celebrated.

Presented by WA Football and the Metro North, Central and South Regional Development Councils, more than 1000 volunteers from 90 metro junior football clubs came together for an evening of celebrations as individuals and clubs were awarded for outstanding contributions and excellence in the delivery of junior football across Perth.

The evening commenced with a stirring Welcome to Country followed by Metro South Regional Development Council Chair, Anthony Doig leading the guests in a toast to junior football. This was followed the awarding of umpires, coach coordinators, Auskick coordinators and administrators who excelled in their roles during the 2025 season.

WA Football Volunteer of the Year winner Samantha Saffioti provided a moving speech which brought the room to their feet on her 26-year football volunteering journey and the vital role volunteers play in shaping young lives and community.

Guests at the event dug deep to continue metro junior footballs support of Sock it to Sarcoma! raising $10,743 through the online raffle and silent auction held on the night.

Clubs were recognised for their contributions to community in the Further with Football award and the 2025 Auskick Centre, Junior and Youth Clubs of the Year for each district were awarded.

The night concluded with celebrations out on the Champions Terrace overlooking the oval.

“The WA Football Community Football Awards were an incredible celebration of clubs and volunteers in our Metropolitan Junior Competition and a fitting end to a successful year where almost 10,000 games were delivered, 106 Premiers crowned and WA Volunteers were recognised on the national stage,” WA Football’s Executive Manager – Participation & Program Strategy, Chris Bandy, said.

WA Football’s Club Development and Volunteers Specialist. Jenné Emberson, said the night was a fantastic way to recognise and celebrate junior community football and the hard-working volunteers involved.

“Volunteers are the backbone of our sport and without their tireless efforts, community football simply wouldn’t exist,” Emberson said.

“The Community Football Awards were a fitting platform to thank metro junior football club volunteers for their dedication and hard work which ensures that children have the opportunity to play football.

“The Awards gave junior clubs from across the metropolitan area from Yanchep in the north, to Pinjarra in the south and Mt Helena in the east the opportunity to come together to celebrate the 2025 season, share stories and applaud the achievements of their clubs, and the volunteers who support it.

“We thank all football club volunteers who give their time and energy to ensure football is accessible and remains the game for all Western Australians.”
