About WA Football
Our Role
Football is more than a game, it connects players, families and communities across Western Australia. It brings us together, drives our passion, and shapes our shared identity.
At WA Football, we’re proud to be the caretakers of the game in our State. From local ovals to the elite stage, we make football accessible, inclusive and open to everyone. We proudly hold the licenses for WA’s two AFL clubs – Fremantle Football Club and West Coast Eagles.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we are guided by a voluntary Board that oversees the game’s growth and integrity across the state.
Together, we’re building a game that unites us all – progressive, welcoming and full of joy that only football can bring.

Social Return on Investment
WA Football recently commissioned the most comprehensive study ever into the social and economic impact of club-based football in Western Australia.
The report, completed by ACIL Allen, found that every dollar spent in local football generates two dollars in economic activity, contributing over $220 million annually to the WA economy and supporting more than 1,400 full-time equivalent jobs.
Beyond economics, club-based footy delivers an estimated $225 million in social benefits each year, boosting physical activity, mental health, and community connection, with players and their families spending nearly three hours per week engaging in the game.
This research provides a unique tool to track the social return on investment (SROI) of football, demonstrating the vital role the sport plays in uniting and strengthening communities across the state.
