Six West Australians have been named to play in a special exhibition match in Melbourne this weekend as the 2025 Marsh AFL National Academy Girls team represents Australia against a national All Stars side.
West Perth’s Mia Russo, Subiaco pair Olivia Crane and Olivia Wolmarans and East Fremantle’s Alicia Blizard will line up for the Marsh AFL National Academy Girls team, while Renee Morgan from South Fremantle and Swan Districts midfielder Carys D’Addario will feature in the All Stars side.
Fellow West Australians Evie Cowcher from Peel Thunder and South Fremantle’s Alira Fotu will take part in this weekend’s camp despite being sidelined from the Australia U18 team for Sunday’s match with injury.
The Academy squad will take part in their third and final camp of the 2025 campaign this week, with the highlight of the three-day program the clash against the All Stars at Mission Whitten Oval from 9am WA time on Sunday, June 8.
It will be the second showcase match between the two sides this year.
The Marsh AFL National Academy features a host of the most talented young footballers from across Australia, who are taking part in the program during their Draft year.
The National Academy is a holistic football and personal development program, providing the next generation of stars with valuable experiences, insights and opportunities to best prepare them for the next steps in their football journey.
The All Stars team to take on the National Academy is a new-look line-up from the side that played in the showcase match in April.
The All Stars squad for Sunday’s game features players born in 2007 who are in their Draft year, many of whom featured in the Marsh AFL National Futures match last September.
The Marsh AFL National Academy Girls squad will arrive in Melbourne from Thursday for the third camp of the 2025 program.
The squad will take part in a range of high-performance, wellbeing, education and team bonding sessions throughout the three-day camp.
They will train at IKON Park on Friday and at Harry Trott Oval on Saturday in preparation for Sunday’s match.
The All Stars will also train at Harry Trot Oval on Saturday.
