IT might only be Round 5 of the 2018 WAFL season but the stakes are heating up with Swan Districts and East Fremantle needing to bounce back on Saturday, Perth and Claremont needing improved performances and then the round concludes with East Perth playing Peel Thunder on Sunday.

Round 5 of the 2018 WAFL season begins with three matches on Saturday afternoon with two of those in the traditional 2.15pm time slot.

Swan Districts hosts East Fremantle at Steel Blue Oval with both teams needing to bounce back after a couple of losses while Perth also plays West Perth at Lathlain Park with the Demons looking to overcome a horror recent record against the Falcons.

The first country fixture of 2018 then takes place at Centennial Stadium in Albany from 2.40pm on Saturday afternoon with Claremont playing South Fremantle.

The round concludes with the two AFL aligned teams providing an entrée to the first Western Derby at Optus Stadium later in the afternoon on Sunday, with East Perth taking on Peel Thunder at Leederville Oval from 11.40am.

The dominant Subiaco has the bye in Round 5 following wins against East Perth, South Fremantle, Swan Districts and Claremont by an average of 89.5 points.
