Four time WAFL premiership coach Tony Micale has been named the WA Italian Team of the Century coach at a function on Thursday 16 May at Optus Stadium.
West Coast Eagles legend Peter Matera was named captain of the side while his brothers Phil and Wally were among 23 players selected with Italian backgrounds.
This includes current WAFL players Aaron Black (West Perth) and Tony Notte (Swan Districts) along with the AFL’s Greater Western Sydney star Stephen Coniglio.
The team was selected by a panel including Dennis Cometti, Ron Alexander, Steve Malaxos, WAFC historian Greg Wardell-Johnson, Sean Cowan and John Townsend.
