Congratulations to the 12 Western Australian players added to AFL lists via the 2018 NAB AFL National and Rookie Drafts.
This included first round National Draft pick Jordan Clark from Claremont Football Club and mature-aged recruit Matthew Parker from South Fremantle.
Other National Draft selections included Simply Energy WA State 18s players Ian Hill (Perth), Luke Foley (Subiaco), Jarrod Cameron (Swan Districts), Tom Joyce (East Fremantle), and Luke English (Perth).
Rookie picks included Durak Tucker (Peel Thunder), Damon Greaves (East Perth), Harry Edwards (Swan Districts) and Tobe Watson (Swan Districts).
Jason Carter (Claremont) was added to Fremantle’s list as a Next Generation Academy Category B Rookie.
Irving Mosquito became the fourth AFL recruit from Halls Creek in WA’s Kimberley Region when he was drafted at number 38 in the National Draft by Essendon from the Gippsland Power, where he has played since relocating to Victoria as a 12-year-old.
WAFC Executive Manager Talent and Football Operations Scott Baker congratulated all of the players on their selection and paid tribute to their clubs, coaches and family members for their support.
“These are all very talented players who have been rewarded for their dedication and commitment and I wish them every success as they strive to make their AFL debut,” he said.
“I would also like to thank all of the clubs, coaches and family members who have helped make it possible for these players to achieve their dream of being drafted.”
