Long time football administrator Trevor Nisbett has been awarded Life Membership of the West Australian Football Commission.

For more than four decades, Nisbett has been a football leader in this state, including a highly successful period as Chief Executive Officer of the West Coast Eagles.

“Having been involved in WA football for more than four decades it is an honour to be offered Life Membership of the WAFC,” Nisbett said.

“It has been a privilege to be part of a wonderful industry, contributing at WAFL and AFL level and forming strong relationships with many outstanding people during that period.”

Nisbett launched his career in administration in 1981 after finishing as a player at the East Perth Football Club in the WAFL.

After being appointed Football Manager at the Royals he was promoted to General Manager of the club in 1982.

Head-hunted by Subiaco, Nisbett joined the Lions as Football Manager in 1984, helping the club win premierships in 1986 and 1988.

His performance prompted an approach by the West Coast Eagles to become the club’s Football Manager, a role he held for a decade.

Nisbett’s strong working relationship with coach Michael Malthouse was pivotal in the Eagles winning the 1992 and 1994 premierships.

Promoted to Chief Executive Officer in 1999, Nisbett was instrumental in turning the club into one of the most successful in the country, with the Eagles claiming two premierships this century and building a membership base in excess of 100,000.

The 67-year-old concluded a remarkable career at the Eagles after 25 years and is regarded as one of WA’s finest football administrators.

The West Australian Football Commission congratulates Trevor Nisbett on being awarded Life Membership.
