EAST Fremantle all but wrapped up the WAFLW minor premiership with a hard earned Round 14 win over Swan Districts while the race for the rest of the finals spots heated up with wins for West Perth, South Fremantle and Claremont.

The third last round of the 2024 WAFLW home and away season saw four fascinating games played across the WA Day long weekend with East Fremantle moving further clear in top spot while West Perth stayed second, Claremont remained third and South Fremantle won to stay in the mix.

The Round 14 action got underway on Friday night at Joondalup’s Pentanet Stadium with West Perth making it three straight wins beating East Perth 13.12 (90) to 2.3 (15).

The win keeps the Falcons second with a 9-3 record with Mia Russo kicking three goals to go with 23 possessions.

There were then two games on Saturday afternoon starting with South Fremantle winning a thriller 5.9 (39) to 5.7 (37) at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

Both teams now sit at 5-7 records to be a game behind the fourth placed Swan Districts with two rounds remaining setting up a fascinating finish in the battle for that last finals position.

Next up on Saturday afternoon was Claremont snapping a run of losing three of its past four games to beat the bottom placed Peel Thunder 3.11 (29) to 1.5 (11) at Lane Group Stadium to remain third and only percentage out of second spot.

The round concluded on Sunday afternoon at Steel Blue Oval with East Fremantle holding out Swan Districts 4.10 (34) to 3.4 (22).

The Sharks are now two games and percentage clear on top with nine straight wins with Zippy Fish racking up another 27 possessions and Chloe Wrigley 22 to go with eight tackles.

Swan Districts remain fourth at 6-6 with Emily McGuire kicking two goals while Lily Paterson racked up 33 possessions.

SOUTH FREMANTLE 5.9 (39) defeated SUBIACO 5.7 (37)

PEEL THUNDER 1.5 (11) lost to CLAREMONT 3.11 (29)

SWAN DISTRICTS 3.4 (22) lost to EAST FREMANTLE 4.10 (34)
