WAFLW Supporters Require Proof of Vaccination

The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) has made it a condition of entry, that all supporters must show proof of vaccination to enter any WAFLW game this season.

The decision has been made in order to keep spectators, staff, volunteers and players safe and to ensure the season can continue with as little interruption as possible.

The WAFC is also considering introducing the same condition for entry for the WAFL games for spectators, following the recent mandate that all football staff and players must show proof of vaccination to play and train.

Chief Executive, Michael Roberts said “in line with the state government, the best protection from the virus is to get vaccinated. It’s the Commission’s responsibility to do as much as possible to ensure the competition can run in a safe environment for the benefit of everyone involved.”

“It’s becoming second nature checking in, showing your vaccination certificates and adhering to sensible social distancing protocols. From our point of view, this is a common-sense decision and will mean we can get to the football on the weekend and enjoy a game.”

It’s anticipated the government’s definition of ‘fully vaccinated’ will soon change to include booster shots for everyone from 16 years of age. Further information will be provided on this once their position is made clear.

You can help the WAFLW competition be a safe place for all by:

  • Wear your mask in all indoor areas
  • Keep checking in with the SafeWA App
  • Bring your vaccination certificate to the game
  • Know when you’re a close contact
  • Get tested if you’re not feeling well or a close contact
  • Get your booster when eligible
