Enrol now for the Falcons Holiday Footy Clinics

PLACES at the annual July Falcons Holiday Footy Clinics are filling fast and with school holiday enrolments closing on Monday July 9, there is limited time to secure a spot in the program (boys and girls aged 5 – 12 years).

A highlight of the program will be visits from AFL players from the West Coast Eagles and WAFL club players from the West Perth Football Club who will act as program coaches.

The Falcons Holiday Footy Clinics will be held at Arena Joondalup- home of the West Perth Football Club and will be conducted over two days from 8.30am – 12.30pm.

Enrol now for the Dean Kemp Football Academy

PLACES at the inaugural Dean Kemp Football Academy are filling fast and with school holiday enrolments closing next Saturday, July 7, there is limited time to secure a spot in the two-day program (boys and girls aged 7 – 16).

A highlight of the program will be visits from AFL and WAFL club players including Mark LeCras and Josh Kennedy from the West Coast Eagles, who will travel south to make a special appearance as part of the club’s commitment to growing the game and supporting grassroots football in regional communities.

Fremantle Dockers players will also be making an appearance, with names to be released shortly.

The Academy is being run by Dean Kemp in partnership with the West Australian Football Commission and with the support of proud major sponsor GMF Health Insurance.

Maali Academy makes its mark in Forrestfield

The next batch of Swan Districts Football Club (SDFC) stars are coming on in leaps and bounds at the Bendigo Bank Maali Academy at John Reid Oval in Forrestfield.

The program, which provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boys, aged 9 to 18, with a kaleidoscope of personal development sessions, is starting to make its mark, with more than 15 boys participating on a weekly basis.

The personal development sessions touched on several key topics including drug, alcohol and crime awareness, goal-setting, self-esteem, and positive affirmations just to name a few.

The boys were given a chance to show their wares in the AFL 9’s Maali Cup, a 6 month competition which will lead into the 2013 Nicky Winmar Cup and potential exhibition matches in the Swans District Junior Competition.

School Holiday Footy Fever

A total of 275 enthusiastic kids aged 5 – 12 years put on the Red and Blue at April School Holiday Clinics coached by West Perth Football Club Players.

The young Falcons fans were introduced to a range of footy skills and coaching clinics conducted by West Perth Football Club League, Reserves and Colts players and all went home with a West Perth Football Club replica guernsey.

The program took place at Arena Joondalup on Tuesday April 13 and has been a regular holiday event for the club for a number of years.

West Perth District Manager Andrew Ridley said the programs, which run once over the April holidays and twice over the July holidays, are not only fantastic for promoting the West Perth Football Club, but also for promoting Aussie Rules footy culture in the district.

On a glorious Autumn day in downtown Melbourne, the AFL unveiled their new NAB AFL Auskick National Ambassador - former Hawthorn Captain, Shane Crawford.
Hundreds of Auskickers flocked to Melbourne's Birrarung Marr to welcome the new ambassador.
