South West Sirens v Great Southern Storm

The South West Sirens squad travelled to Mount Barker on Sunday, May 22 to play in a friendly fixture against the Great Southern Storm.

Conditions were agreeable for some fantastic high paced football and the SW Sirens displayed just that by piling on 6 unanswered goals in the first quarter.

The coaching staff of Bob Marshall, Natasha Grosse and Michelle Harris moved players into many different positions to ensure all girls were challenged and given equal opportunity.

2011 Junior Girls Competition

THE 2011 Swans District Junior Girls Competition is kicking off at the end of May, with female participants aged between 8 and 12 years invited to register and join in the fun.

Participants can register as a team before May 16 or individually at Steel Blue Oval on Thursday, May 19 between 4.30pm and 6pm (bring your footy gear and play a scratch match too!).

All girls that sign up for the competition will receive a girls' Auskick pack, quality coaching and the chance to play on a WAFL ground under lights.

West Perth's footy for mums

THE West Perth Football club is conducting an exciting female football opportunity for local women.

Held over six Monday evenings in May/June the Footy for Mums program is a free session conducted by experienced football coaches catering for mums, grandmothers, teachers and local women.

The program caters for all fitness levels. Women’s Football Patron Allanah MacTiernan has already signed up, indicating an interest to learn skills to use when she has her grandchildren.

WA girls striving for National Championship

It is crunch time for the 35 hopeful female footballers involved in the WA State Squad selection process with only 7weeks remaining until the 2011 AFL Women’s National Championships, held in Adelaide, kick off.

With the first match on 7 June firmly in their sights, WA’s top female footballers are building their fitness and honing their skills in preparation for being pitted against the rest of the nation’s finest female AFL athletes.

West Australian Women’s Football League Announces New Patron

The Western Australian Women’s Football League has a new Patron. Former State Cabinet Minister Alannah MacTiernan has agreed to come on board to help grow the sport for females in Western Australia. 

Ms MacTiernan is excited about her new role. “Promoting the great Australian game and at the same time making opportunities for girls and women to have a go is a fabulous agenda and one I will be proud to be a part of.”
