The WAFLW State side has returned home proud of its performance in a narrow eight point loss to South Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
Despite having more scoring shots than their rivals, WA finished the match just four goals after inaccuracy cost them dearly.
WA controlled the match for long periods but struggled in the big moments, going down for the second time against SA.
The WAFLW team led by a straight kick midway through the fourth quarter before spearhead Katelyn Rosenzweig marked and goaled to level the scores.
Despite Leah Cutting’s dominance in ruck for SA, the WAFLW’s engine room, led by Lisa Steane and Krstel Petrevski, dominated at ground level early.
Isabella Shannon got WA on the board first, before Lauren Breguet goaled twice for the home side.
The WAFLW dominated territory in the second quarter but were unable to capitalise on their good work with poor finishing keeping the Croweaters in the contest.
Zoe Venning goaled to level the scores before Fina Dethlefsen replied with a major just on half-time to put WA in front.
WA’s lead was one point at three-quarter-time but they paid for their waywardness as the SANFLW side dominated the final quarter in a disappointing finish to the contest for Jack Schwarze and his team
Lisa Steane from Subiaco won the medal for best afield for WA.
