KIF provides training, education opportunities for Kimberley volunteers
WA Football and Country Football WA work together to provide opportunities for volunteers in the regions to access to training and education in coaching, umpiring, officiating and governance.
Over the AFL All Stars weekend in February this year, a group of Kimberley volunteers were supported through the Kimberley Investment Framework (KIF) to travel to Perth to access multiple opportunities to build relationships and skill sets around football, including an umpiring education workshop with AFL umpires.
“I really liked the trip to Perth to see how much the professional umpires have the passion for the game and enjoy what they do. I think it shows that if you have a goal in life (umpiring) there is an opportunity to progress and develop that passion,” West Kimberley Football League umpire Murray Cockram said.
The Kimberley Investment Framework is a joint initiative, funded by the AFL and the Western Australian Government.
