This weekend, the Swan Districts Football Club will pay tribute to the legendary John Todd at the highly anticipated John Todd Memorial Match against South Fremantle.

The annual event, which has become a cornerstone in the Swan Districts Football Club calendar, will serve as a heartfelt tribute to Todd’s enduring legacy and significant contributions to football in Western Australia.

Todd is celebrated for his remarkable career both as a player and a coach.

His journey with South Fremantle began in the late 1950s, where he quickly established himself as a formidable player known for his exceptional skills and unwavering determination.

At 17 he won the Sandover Medal making him the youngest player to ever receive the prestigious award.

However, it was his coaching career that cemented Todd’s status as a football icon.

Taking the helm as Head Coach at Swan Districts, Todd led the team to numerous victories, including four premierships which are fondly remembered by the club’s supporters, before coaching South Fremantle to a premiership in 1997.
