Round 8 Reserves and Colts Wrap

SOUTH Fremantle surged clear on top of the WAFL Reserves with a big win over Perth in Round 8 on Saturday while little separates East Fremantle, Peel Thunder and Swan Districts in the REDiMED Colts.

The reserves matches on Saturday saw Claremont defeat Peel Thunder 22.15 (147) to 8.7 (55) at Fremantle Community Bank Oval, East Fremantle down West Perth 16.11 (107) to 9.10 (64) at East Fremantle Oval, South Fremantle beat Perth 22.12 (144) to 5.4 (34) at Lathlain Park and Swan Districts prevail over Subiaco 11.8 (74) to 9.11 (65) at Steel Blue Oval.

The results saw South Fremantle (6-1) move a game and percentage clear on top of the ladder in the reserves. Perth (5-2) remains in second spot ahead of Claremont (4-3), East Fremantle (3-3) and Subiaco (3-4).

West Perth (3-4) is sixth ahead of Peel Thunder (3-4), East Perth (2-5) and Swan Districts (2-5).

Then in the colts games on Saturday, Claremont defeated Peel Thunder 10.10 (70) to 7.7 (49), East Fremantle beat West Perth 15.14 (104) to 3.4 (22), Perth downed South Fremantle 7.11 (53) to 6.16 (52) and Subiaco won over Swan Districts 9.7 (61) to 9.4 (58).

East Fremantle (5-1) remains on top of the colts ladder after eight rounds ahead of Peel Thunder (5-2) and Swan Districts (5-2). Claremont (4-3) is fourth and Subiaco (4-3) fifth while West Perth (3-4) is sixth ahead of East Perth (2-5), Perth (2-5) and South Fremantle (1-6).

STANDOUT RESERVES PERFORMERS
Swan Districts’ reserves beat Subiaco by nine points at Steel Blue Oval even though the Lions kicked five goals to one in the first term.

Jackson Slater had a strong showing for Swans with 25 possessions and three goals with Steven Wityk also kicking three majors.

Freddie Clutterbuck picked up 25 disposals for Swans, Levi Ridley 25, Jacob Coniglio 23, Tobe Watson 22, Jesse Manton 21 and ruckman Troy Yukich 15 to go with 40 hit outs.

Ray Daniels, Ryan Vermeersch and Dylan Nelson kicked two goals each for Subiaco.

Nick Menegola finished with 20 possessions for the Lions, Jacob Miller 19, Daniel Perkins 18 and Daniel Leach 18.

Claremont’s reserves had a thumping 92-point win over Peel Thunder at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

Alex Manuel responded to being dropped to the reserves in style for Claremont by having 38 possessions, seven tackles and four goals.

Matthew Palfrey and Eddie Simpson also kicked four goals each for the Tigers, Corey Mitchell two, Josh Bennett two and Matthew Ehlers two.

Jacob Sideris amassed 34 possessions for Claremont, Lachlan Martinis 30, Bennett 29, Palfrey 23, Nick Winmar 22, Aden Wilkins 21, Bailey Bennett 21, Tom Lawrence 21 and Luke Maddock 20.

Calvin Thorne kicked four goals for Peel while Brad Walsh picked up 35 possessions, Michael Humble 32, Chris Wrigley 23 and Noah Hura 22.

In the reserves contest at East Fremantle Oval, East Fremantle defeated West Perth 16.11 (107) to 9.10 (64).

Sean Henson was outstanding for East Fremantle giving himself a chance to earn his 100th league appearance after 29 possessions, eight marks and three goals.

Alex Howson and Jye Clements kicked three goals each for the Sharks with Ben Harding also kicking two along with 35 possessions.

Jake Schleicher picked up 26 disposals, Joel Kalajzic 23, Nathan Fahey 20, Corey Holmes 19, Josh Cuneo 19, Leon Pearton 17, Miles Franklin 17 and Tom Omodei 17.

Mitch Antonio kicked three goals for West Perth with Max Alexander and Mitch Peirce booting two apiece.

James Batterham gathered 30 possessions for the Falcons, Ben McGillivray 27, Peirce 27, Alexander Coe 21, Conal Lynch 19, Mitch van Berlo 19 and Josh Romanelli 18.

Then in the reserves at Lathlain Park, it was a thumping win for South Fremantle over Perth with the Bulldogs winning 22.12 (144) 5.4 (34).

Zac Strom responded to his demotion for the Bulldogs in the best possible fashion by finishing with 25 possessions, 13 marks, eight inside-50 entries and five goals.

Zac De San Miguel also kicked three goals for the Bulldogs, Mitch Dzelebdzic three, Andre Coutinho two and Caleb Datson two.

Jake Florenca racked up 31 possessions for South Fremantle, Matthew Parker 24, Josh Collard 22, Chad Pearson 22, Daniel Cabassi 20, Matthew Gundry 19, Seaton Thompson 18 and Dzelebdzic 18.

Cody Kickett finished with 20 possessions and two goals for Perth.

Kurtis Chester gathered 31 disposals for the Demons, Jayden Johnstone 23, Callum Marshall 21, Joshua Burke 20 and Shaun Smith 19.

REDiMED COLTS SHINING LIGHTS
It was a thriller in the REDiMED Colts at Steel Blue Oval with Subiaco holding on despite Swan Districts kicking four goals to two in the fourth quarter. The Lions held on for the three-point win.

Nathan French and Christian Martin kicked two goals each for Subiaco.

Brayden Ainsworth gathered 27 possessions for the Lions, Koby Fullgrabe 20, Liam Hickmott 18, Kyron Hayden 17 and Max Dennis 17.

Thomas Whittle booted four goals to go with 18 possessions for Swan Districts with Sebastian Bright also booting two majors.

Lochie Huntley compiled 26 possessions for Swans, Jack O’Sullivan 22, Stephen Hay 21, Callum Garcia 20, Samuel Taylor 17 and Gregory Humphries 16.

Claremont’s colts scored a 21-point win over Peel Thunder at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

Jacob Orr and Nicholas Allan kicked two goals each for Claremont.

Callan England racked up 28 possessions for the Tigers, Jake Patmore 25, Jack Lewsey 22, Rylie Morgan 21, Lewis Daisley 19 and Brock Ward 18.

Aaron Naughton had a strong showing for Peel with 24 possessions and two goals while Lachlan Riley gathered 29 touches.

Jordan Boullineau picked 24 disposals for the Thunder, Kyle Havelberg 23, Zachary Moody 23, Bradley Oldfield 21 and Jakeb Shine 20.
