WA players find a home at AFL clubs

A total of 15 WA players have been added to AFL lists following the completion of the 2015 NAB AFL National and Rookie Drafts.

Eight were selected in the National Draft on Tuesday, November 24 and another player waselevated to an AFL senior list.

Six players were selected in Friday’s AFL Rookie Draft including number 1 Jesse Glass-McCasker (Swan Districts), 11 Bradley Lynch (Swan Districts), 17 Jordan Snadden (East Fremantle), 36 Kade Stewart (South Fremantle), 38 Ryan Davis (Swan Districts) and 53 Cameron Loersch (South Fremantle).

Another six WA players were re-listed by their respective AFL clubs in the 2015 Rookie Draft including number 35 Brant Colledge (East Perth/West Coast), 50 Anthony Morabito (Peel Thunder/Fremantle), 51 Alec Waterman (East Perth/West Coast), 57 Kane Mitchell (Claremont/Port Adelaide), 60 Joshua Deluca-Cardillo (Peel Thunder/Fremantle) and 61 Simon Tunbridge (East Perth/West Coast).

Former Peel Thunder product Farren Ray received his third opportunity to be listed after he was selected by North Melbourne at pick number 15 after 205 games at the Western Bulldogs and St Kilda.

WAFL General Manager Steve Hargrave congratulated the players selected and also reinforced how important the WAFL competition is in providing an avenue for players to develop.

“We are very proud of the players who have received an opportunity to further their football careers and all those involved in the WAFL talent pathway,” Mr Hargrave said.

“The WAFC is committed to continuing to strengthen the development pathway offered through the WAFL competition that enables players to pursue their football careers at the highest level.”

No. 35 – Marcus Adams (West Perth) – Western Bulldogs

No. 60 – Declan Mountford (Claremont) – North Melbourne

No. 61 – Shane Yarran (Subiaco) – Fremantle

No. 64 – Yestin Eades (Swan Districts/North Ballarat) – Essendon

No. 66 – Sam Menegola (Subiaco) – Geelong

No. 67 – Nathan Broad (Swan Districts) – Richmond

No. 11 – Bradley Lynch (Swan Districts) – Western Bulldogs
