PREPARATIONS are now complete for the 2015 McDonald’s WAFL Premiership season with South Fremantle, East Fremantle, West Perth and Claremont all recording pre-season match wins over the weekend.

The final weekend of the pre-season began on Friday night with South Fremantle beating East Perth 11.3 (69) to 8.11 (59) at Fremantle Oval.

There were then three matches on Saturday afternoon with East Fremantle beating Perth 15.7 (97) to 10.7 (67) at East Fremantle’s ATOM Stadium, West Perth prevailing in a thriller over Swan Districts 7.5 (47) to 6.8 (44) at Bassendean’s Steel Blue Oval and then Claremont thumping Peel Thunder 24.15 (159) to 6.8 (44) at Mandurah’s Bendigo Bank Stadium.

Despite East Perth’s team featuring a host of West Coast-listed players on Friday night including returning vice-captain Scott Selwood, South Fremantle was able to prevail by 10 points in a hard fought affair in difficult conditions.

Then on Saturday, Swan Districts dominated the first half kicking the only four goals up to the break to lead West Perth by 25 points, but the Falcons hit back in the second half.

West Perth got back to within a point by three quarter-time and ended up winning by four points with Matt Fowler finishing with five second half goals and Luke Meadows two.

Claremont and East Fremantle also recorded impressive wins on Saturday leading into their Round 1 clashes with Subiaco and East Perth respectively while the reigning premiers Subiaco had the bye following wins over South Fremantle and Perth.

The pre-season form is now quickly forgotten ahead of Round 1 of the 2015 season this weekend.

The action all gets underway on Friday night at Fremantle Oval with South Fremantle hosting West Perth.

Then on Saturday afternoon, Swan Districts hosts Perth at Steel Blue Oval and Subiaco takes on Claremont at Medibank Stadium.

The round then concludes on Saturday night at Domain Stadium with East Fremantle playing East Perth with the match also being the first to be broadcast on Channel 7.
