WAFLW talents impress in AFL National Academy clash against All Stars in Melbourne

Several WAFLW talents caught the eye in the representative clash between the AFL National Academy Girls and All Stars at Whitten Oval in Melbourne on Saturday.

The AFLW Academy side prevailed over the All Stars with Subiaco young gun and potential top-10 pick Olivia Wolmarans impressing.

Wolmarans, who will be a key player in WA’s upcoming AFL National Under-18s campaign, booted a game-high two goals to go with 14 disposals and four marks to enhance her AFLW Draft credentials.

Wolmarans’ Subiaco teammate Olivia Crane (13 disposals and two rebounds 50s) was also lively for the victors, with East Fremantle’s Alicia Blizard also featuring.

Swan Districts midfielder Carys D’Addario was the standout for the All Stars side, dominating in the first half especially on the way to 12 disposals, three clearances and three tackles.

South Fremantle’s Renee Morgan also battled hard, laying six tackles to go with nine touches and three clearances.

West Perth’s Mia Russo (hamstring tightness) was a late withdrawal, with Peel Thunder’s Evie Cowcher (back) and South Fremantle’s Alira Fotu (knee) also unavailable.

WA’s under-18s take on Claremont in a trial game at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday morning before their national carnival gets underway the following Sunday, June 22 against Queensland in Melbourne.
