New WAFLW club Perth will create history in Round 1 next year when it makes its competition debut against Peel Thunder.

The Demons will travel to Lane Group Stadium in Mandurah to face Peel Thunder at 2.10pm on Saturday, March 29 to launch the new season.

In other opening round matches on that day South Fremantle hosts East Fremantle, also at 2.10pm, while two games will be played under lights.

West Perth is at home to Subiaco at Joondalup Arena at 6.30pm, before East Perth plays Swan Districts at Sullivan Logistics Stadium at 7.15pm.

Reigning premiers Claremont have a bye in the opening round.

Highlights of the season include the Grand Final re-match between Claremont and East Fremantle at Revo Fitness Stadium in Round 3, which will coincide with the Tigers unfurling the 2024 Premiership flag.

The Dhara Kerr Cup will be held in Round 9 at Steel Blue Oval when Swans host Claremont and a State Game between WA and South Australia is scheduled for Saturday, May 3 at Adelaide Oval.

The WAFLW season also features matches as part of NAIDOC Week and on the WA Day long weekend.

The fixture includes more than 20 matches which are scheduled as twilight or night games.

The 18-round home-and-away season will be completed on Sunday, August 3, with the finals series beginning on Saturday, August 9.

The Grand Final has been set down for Saturday, August 23 at a venue to be confirmed.

Luke Sanders, Head of WAFL Competitions at the West Australian Football Commission, is expecting further growth in the competition as the WAFLW expands to nine teams.

“The standard of the WAFLW continues to improve and last season’s exciting Grand Final between Claremont and East Fremantle was a fitting finale to a great season of women’s football in WA,” Sanders said.

“The WAFC believes the skills and depth of talent across the League will continue to improve, and with the introduction of a new player points system this will ensure another highly successful year for the competition.”
