Volunteer of the Year Awards

Every year, nominations are open to the public to recognise volunteers at local football clubs.

All category winners are recognised for their contributions to football at an awards ceremony held at the WAFL Grand Final and the overall WA Football Volunteer of the Year recipient wins a cash prize.

 

All category winners will be entered into the Toyota AFL National Volunteer of the Year award.

 

Nominations can be made in the following categories:

WA Football Volunteer

Recognises the outstanding work of a volunteer who goes above and beyond in their contributions to the game, has given notable volunteer service and is an ambassador for community football.

AFL School Teacher of the Year

Recognises a school teacher who actively promotes football within the school community using creative initiatives to encourage participation.

Community Club Coach

Recognises a Head Coach, Assistant Coach or Coach Coordinator who has shown exceptional leadership, commitment, and dedication to their role and the sport of football.

Community Umpiring Service

Recognises notable service of an umpire or umpire coach/mentor who has had a positive impact on umpiring and is an ambassador for community umpiring.

Community Club of the Year

Recognises a community football club that goes above and beyond to support its players, volunteers, families and wider community, instilling a positive club culture and a safe and inclusive environment.

Disability Inclusion Ambassador

Recognises the outstanding work of a volunteer in promoting the inclusion of people of all abilities in football, showing leadership and innovation, and advocacy for people with disability.

First Nations and Multicultural Ambassador

Recognises a first nations or multicultural volunteer who promotes inclusion and supports pathways for first nations and/or multicultural people in football.

NAB AFL Auskick Volunteer

Recognises the outstanding work of an Auskick volunteer who promotes the values of fun, inclusion and enthusiasm, shows excellent initiative and drives participation.

Young Leader of the Year

Recognises an individual aged 15 – 25 years who has made an outstanding voluntary contribution to community football and whose volunteering has positively impacted others.
