Talent Pathway

WA State Academy

The WA State Academy provides a high-performance football environment dedicated to developing the next generation of elite players. Our program focused on the holistic growth of each athlete, both as a person and a footballer, while building the skills to thrive in a team setting.

The Academy operates males and female programs that work in alignment to deliver a consistent pathway for talent development.

WA 16s State Academy

The entry point for players, offering their first taste of state-level elite football

WA 18s State Academy

The next step in the pathway, designed for players aged 17 to 19, preparing them for national competition and beyond.

Both the male and female WA 16s and 18s teams proudly represent Western Australia at the National Championships, competing against the best young talent from across the country.

WAFL Development Squad Programs

WAFL Development Squad Programs give talented young players and emerging coaches the chance to experience football at the next level while gaining insight into their WAFL Club environment.

Selection is based on performance and potential shown in junior community competitions.

Programs are offered for both male and female players aged 14 and 15, with a dedicated Country Development Squad Carnival providing regional players the same opportunity to showcase their talent.
