2025 WAFLW season review: South Fremantle

South Fremantle had a rollercoaster season in the WAFLW.

The Bulldogs knocked off top two powerhouses Subiaco and Claremont but were the first side to fall victim to new club Perth before losing their last three games to be one game and percentage out of the top four.

A loss to Peel Thunder in the penultimate round but a dent in their finals hopes before West Perth delivered the knock-out punch the next round.

Zoe Huggett was the star up forward with 15 goals in nine games, which was equal-second in the competition behind Swan Districts ace Taylah Edwards.

But Huggett didn’t play after Round 11 in a massive blow to the Bulldogs’ finals hopes.

Renee Morgan emerged as an AFLW draft prospect after co-captaining the WA under-18s team and putting together some exciting performances at national champs and WAFLW levels.

Tahleah Mulder was a real force in the engine-room as she was rewarded with the club’s fairest-and-best, while Hannah Burt showed plenty in her debut season.

While it was a disappointing end to a promising season, the Bulldogs showed enough to be a strong chance to play finals in 2026.
