THIRTY players have been selected as part of the initial intake for the 2024 WA 18s State Academy Program.
With 12 representatives Claremont players dominate the squad, with Subiaco and Peel Thunder providing four members, Swan Districts three, two each from Perth, West Perth, and South Fremantle, while East Fremantle has one player who has been named.
WAFC State Talent Manager Adam Jones has declared there is still an opportunity for other players to earn a place in the squad.
“Congratulations to all clubs and schools who have had input into the development of these players to help them achieve this selection,” Jones said.
“It’s important to note that given the limited amount of football we have had to select the initial squad from and with a number of players coming back from injuries, we have left five spots open to add to the squad over the coming weeks.”
The side will be coached by former Western Bulldogs Assistant Coach and WAFL great Marc Webb.
The WA State 18’s will play two trial games before flying to NSW to face The Allies in the opening game of the AFL National Championships on Sunday, June 2 at Blacktown.
