A trio of 2027 West Aussie AFL prospects are among Tasmania Football Club’s ‘players of interest’ in a huge boost to their draft hopes.
East Perth tall Axel Walsh, touted as a potential top-five pick next year, reigning State 16s MVP James Artemis (East Fremantle) and Perth defender Fynn Tomasini – all part of the AAMI WA Football Boys Summer Squad – were among a group of 22 17-year-olds Australia-wide to be identified by the Devils as potential recruits.
All three were a part of Western Australia’s runner-up campaign at last year’s AFL National Under-16s Championship, with Walsh and Artemis both named in the All-Australian team.
Walsh finished second in the Kevin Sheehan Medal as the top division’s fairest-and-best player with 10 votes, two behind winner Baxter Sruk of Vic Metro.

As part of the club’s list build rules, the AFL’s 19th team from the Apple Isle can sign up to a dozen 17-year-olds across this year and next year, taking them out of their following year’s draft pool if they accept.
The list was revealed by AFL.com.au last month.
