An exciting new junior football year has arrived in WA, with the season beginning this weekend across the state.

More than 40,000 players, from Auskick to Year 12, representing over 103 junior clubs, will participate in 145 competitions, with nearly 1,400 teams taking to the field.

Matches will be staged from April 24–26 over the Anzac Day long weekend, with 14 rounds of home and away games for all ages.

In total, almost 700 matches will be held weekly, with approximately 10,000 games taking place during the home and away season.

For youth age groups (Year 7-12) there will be three rounds of finals, 300 in total, culminating in Grand Final weekend which is set down for September 4-6.

Participants will again be separated into three categories.

Year 3 (Under 9s), to Year 12s (Under 18s), Modifieds (Year 3-6) non premiership age group, and Youth (Year 7-12) premiership age groups.

Danny Dix, WA Juniors and Affiliates Specialist at WA Football, says anticipation is high ahead of the new season.

“Everyone involved in junior football can’t wait for this weekend,” Dix said.

“From players to parents and those volunteers and officials who give so much to the game, it’s a special time of the year.

“In addition, the Auskick/Superkick programs will align with the junior football calendar to ensure a unified start to the season.”

Dix also paid tribute to the support junior football is receiving.

“We are delighted Revo Fitness has extended its partnership to support junior football in WA for the next two seasons, aiming to keep thousands of kids active,” she said.
