The AAMI WA Football State 18s Girls enjoyed a comfortable victory in their first trial game against Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday.

Here’s who caught the eye as preparations ramp up for the AFLW National Under-18s Championship which kicks off next month:

Lexi Strachan (West Perth): Took up where she left off with a dominant midfield performance which included a goal.

Rikisha Nannup (West Perth): Took several running bounces and used the ball with polish on the wing.

Charlie Fletcher (Peel Thunder): Returned to her inside midfield role with strong stoppage craft and inside to outside work rate for four quarters.

Cara Dziegelewski (West Perth): The 2025 AFLW Under-18s Championship All-Australian ruck played forward for the entire game to build her versatility. Brought work rate and defensive pressure all day.

Avuya Nomlatyu (East Fremantle): Had the opportunitity to lead the ruck brigade with Dziegelewski playing forward. Made the most of her chance and dominated the ruck, providing first-use for the midfield.

Shaya Yarran (Swan Districts): Was dangerous at forward stoppages and connected the midfield to the forward line with her pace and poise.

The State 18s Girls are back in action against South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday afternoon.
