We take a look at the biggest talking points out of the Sullivan Logistics WAFL, ATCO WAFLW and EGT WAFL Colts competitions.

Raise the bat, Jaime

Jaime Henry is a record breaker for the second time in a month.

The Swan Districts ball magnet broke her own disposals record as the ATCO WAFLW ladder leaders easily accounted for South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Sunday.

Henry became the first WAFLW player to break the 50-disposal barrier, finishing with 51 which was two better than her effort against Peel Thunder in Round 10, a little over a fortnight ago.

The 20-year-old remarkably had 30 more disposals than any other player on the ground.

It comes as no surprise that the prolific midfielder is the leader disposal getter for the season with 367 at an average of 33.4.

Thunder hit the top

Peel Thunder finished the round atop the WAFL ladder after a stunning 98-point thrashing of last season’s grand finalists East Perth at Lane Group Stadium in Mandurah on Saturday.

The Thunder jumped Claremont on the ladder on percentage thanks to the Tigers’ recent run of poor form since the State Game bye.

Peel have now won six games in a row and haven’t lost since their one-point defeat to Subiaco back in Round 4.

Sandover Medal fancy Jeremy Sharp produced another best-on-ground performance with 35 disposals and two goals, with fellow AFL-listed veteran Bailey Banfield (30 disposals) and WAFL recruit Lachlan Tardrew (29 and a goal) also prominent.

The Thunder piled on a staggering 23.4 with seven multiple goal-kickers, led by Dockers-listed youngster Tobyn Murray and Charlie Nicholls who booted three apiece.

It’s the first time ever that the Thunder and Dockers have been on top of their respective ladders at the same time.

Shannon hits Peel for six

Jaime Henry’s record-breaking performance wasn’t the only amazing individual display in Round 12, with Perth’s Isabella Shannon producing one of the best performances of the season in Saturday’s victory over Peel Thunder at Mineral Resources Park.

The former St Kilda gun booted a game-high six goals from 30 disposals in a match-winning effort as the Demons dominant against the Thunder.

Lauren Davey (four goals) and Katelyn Cox (three) also contributed on the scoreboard, while Isla Baldwin also caught the eye with a game-high 32 disposals and 12 tackles.

Miller’s fine debut

Former Claremont big man Steve Miller produced a brilliant debut to help his new team Subiaco to a hard-fought win over East Fremantle at Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Saturday.

Seven days after his last game for Quairading in the Avon Football Association, Miller was rushed into the Lions’ 23 after just three training sessions and starred in the ruck.

The 25-year-old had a game-high 36 hit-outs to go with 11 disposals, five tackles and five marks.

Miller tallied 29 senior appearances for the Tigers but the team’s depth in the big man department meant he was unable to break into the league side since Round 18.

His last game at any level for Claremont was last season’s losing Reserves Grand Final against East Perth.

Midfielder Taj Schofield was another important contributor for the Lions in his first game of the season after recovering from a hamstring injury, while speedster Stefan Giro’s hot form continued and reigning fairest-and-best winner Jack Mayo and recruit Nick Girolami kicked three goals apiece.

Souths back in form

Reigning champs South Fremantle ended their three-game losing streak with a comfortable victory over West Perth at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday.

Former West Coast and Geelong speedster Jamaine Jones booted a game-high four goals, while midfielder Jake Florenca racked up 37 disposals as the Bulldogs returned to form.

Ruckman and Simpson Medal winner Hamish Free was an important inclusion in his return from an ankle injury, finishing with 19 disposals and 22 hit-outs.

Former Eagle Connor West fought hard for the Falcons with 29 possessions and two goals.

WAFL ladder logjam

It’s set to be the tightest top-five race in recent WAFL history with two wins separating first and eighth position.

All teams have now played 10 games with Peel Thunder and Claremont both leading the way with 7-3 records.

Reigning premiers South Fremantle and Perth are both one game behind with 6-4 records, then there’s four teams on 5-5.

Subiaco’s win over East Fremantle saw them snatch fifth spot, ahead of East Perth which copped a percentage hit against the Thunder.

The Sharks and West Coast are also on five wins and as many losses.

Tight WAFLW finals race as well

Just three games separate third and seventh on the WAFLW ladder after Round 12, with all current four top-four teams prevailing.

Fourth-placed Perth jumped ahead of South Fremantle on percentage after the Demons knocked off Peel Thunder and the Bulldogs went down to Swan Districts.

East Fremantle are one-and-a-half games clear of Perth in third spot after defeating last season’s preliminary finalists Subiaco by 13 points at Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Sunday.

Claremont are two games ahead of the Sharks in second and one game behind ladder leaders Swan Districts after their big win over East Perth in the earlier Sunday game in Leederville.

Bulldogs go top of EGT WAFL Colts

South Fremantle edged ahead of reigning premiers Claremont on the EGT WAFL Colts ladder after defeated West Perth at home on Saturday.

Both the Tigers and their grand final opponents from last year Souths have 8-1 records after Round 10 and look to be the teams to beat once again.

The Bulldogs were led by second-gamer Kobe Clucas who was his side’s best with 32 disposals, eight tackles and six inside 50s.

The competition’s leading disposal getting Luca Boczar was prolific for the Falcons with a game-high 38 touches and seven inside 50s.

Subi teen closes in on senior debut

Subiaco teenager Thatcher Simmons put his hand up for a WAFL senior debut with a massive performance in the Lion’s Reserves win over East Fremantle at Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Saturday.

In just his second Reserves appearance after getting promoted from the EGT WAFL Colts, Simmons booted a game-high six goals from 21 disposals.

The former Stat 16s representative produced some stunning Colts performances earlier in the season including 37 disposals and a goal in Round 4 and 24 and four the following week.

Former Giant goes out on a high

Former GWS Giant Jason Gillbee has called time on his WAFL career, with West Perth’s Reserves win over South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval his final appearance.

Gillbee tallied 19 senior appearances for West Coast and West Perth since moving west after he was delisted by the Giants.

The 22-year-old couldn’t break into the Falcons’ senior side in 2026 but contributed in the twos, including 30 disposals and a goal in his farewell game.

West Perth are sitting second on the Reserves ladder with a 6-3 record, two games behind ladder leaders Swan Districts who also have a game in hand and an unblemished 9-0 start to the season.
