More than 700 volunteers attended the Metro Central and Metro North Clubs and Volunteers Awards of Excellence held over two nights at the Pan Pacific.
The two events celebrated the achievements of volunteers from 55 clubs throughout the metro region, from Mt Helena in the hills, to Yanchep in the north, all in celebration of the 2023 Community Football season.
This year saw the alignment of award categories across the three Regional Development Councils – Metro Central, Metro North and Metro South Conferences, including the introduction of new awards; Administrator of the Year, which acknowledges the exceptional work of club Registrars and the addition of a female and male category for the Coach of the Year and Umpire of the Year.
WA Football Club Development and Volunteer Specialists, Jenné Russell and Zachary Binning said the events were a huge success.
“It was truly amazing to honour the tireless dedication of club volunteers and umpires during the event,” Russell said.
“We were delighted to see more than 750 club volunteers, life members, and umpires come together to celebrate the conclusion of the 2023 junior football season,” Binning added.
In addition to the awards, the football community raised over $6,500 for Sarcoma research through a raffle held across the two nights.
The WAFC congratulates the following club, volunteer and umpire award winners from Metro Central and Metro North.
The WAFC looks forward to hosting the Metro South Awards evening in November.
