Early start for WAFL Grand Final as ticket prices slashed

WA Football confirms the 2026 Sullivan Logistics WAFL premiership decider is locked in for Sunday, September 20, at Optus Stadium with an earlier start time.

There will also be significant reductions in ticket pricing for the blockbuster event, making it more affordable than ever for WA footy fans to attend.

In recent years, the League Grand Final has had a later first ball-up of 3.20pm, but that will be brought forward for a more family-friendly 1.10pm start.

The EGT WAFL Colts Grand Final, set to feature some of the State’s top AFL Draft prospects, will be moved to a twilight fixture starting at 4.40pm to cap off a massive WAFL Grand Final day.

It comes as ticket prices have been slashed by $15 for Family Tickets and $10 for General Admission after taking on feedback from WAFL supporters, clubs and other key stakeholders.

“We’ve listened to our WAFL fans and club members about the cost of ticketing from previous grand finals and we’re delighted to announce a reduction in prices for the 2026 WAFL Grand Final at Optus Stadium on Sunday, September 19,” WA Football CEO Brad Wira said.

“We understand the continued challenges associated with the cost of living, so we have worked hard on reducing the cost of General Admission tickets, whilst still respecting the significance of the last day in September.

“We have also acted on feedback from all of our WAFL stakeholders, including our clubs, players and AFL recruiters about our respective games start times, with the Sullivan Logistics WAFL League game to commence at 1.10pm, before the stars of tomorrow – the EGT WAFL Colts – cap off a massive season of State-league footy at 4.40pm.”

Tickets will be on sale via Ticketmaster from Tuesday, September 1.

WAFL finals kick off this weekend with Claremont hosting Perth in Saturday’s Qualifying Final at Revo Fitness Stadium, while reigning champs South Fremantle in a do-or-die Elimination Final against last year’s Grand Final opponents East Perth at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Sunday.

Minor premiers Peel Thunder have earned a week off and will take of the winner of the Tigers and Demons at Lane Group Stadium in the second weekend of finals.
