Three players named in AFL All Australian Inclusion Team

Three West Australian players earned national selection for their standout performance at the AFL National Inclusion Carnival in Queensland last week.

Midfielder Tyson Worthington (Willetton), forward Lyndsy Ashworth (Coolbinia) and defender David Hallows (Coolbinia) were all presented with the national jumper and certificate following the finals.

The WA team started their carnival campaign exceptionally well, dominating the first two days of the round-robin format by winning the first five matches, earning them a place in Division 1 alongside South Australia, Tasmania and Vic Metro.

WA continued to rack up the wins finishing equal first in their division with two wins and one loss. However, their campaign fell just short in their play-off match for third place against Vic Metro.

WA All Abilities Football Association (WAAAFA) Executive Officer, Hayden Marchetto said he was extremely proud of the team’s efforts.

“The effort from all the players was amazing and everyone worked together and supported one-another throughout the whole week,” Marchetto said.

“Everyone in the team should be proud of their performance and a big congratulations to Tyson, Lyndsy and David on their All-Australian selection.”

Alex Moshovis (Coolbinia) was rewarded for his remarkable skill and effort being named WA’s Most Valuable Player.

The AFL National Inclusion Carnival is aimed at footballers with an intellectual disability aged 16 years and above.

WAAAFA will soon select a WA Team for the National Wheelchair Championships, set to take place between November 1 – 5 in Victoria.
