WAFLWFin-tastic results at State Combine as record-breaking Yeo leads the way

East Fremantle Colts premiership star and State 18s representative Finlay Yeo has smashed the all-time AFL Draft Combine record in the agility testing at Sunday’s WA State Draft Combine.
The exciting midfielder-forward, who’s part of Fremantle’s Next Generation Academy, beat fellow West Aussie and GWS Giants livewire Darcy Jones’ record set back in 2022.
Yeo broke the record multiple times on the day, finishing with a staggering 7.533 seconds which easily bettered Jones’ previous mark of 7.70 seconds.
It was a great day for the Sharks pocket rocket, who posted the second fastest time in the 20m sprint with 2.95 seconds, with East Perth and West Coast Next NGA speedster Garrison Kenh impressing with a rapid time of 2.931 seconds.
Claremont young gun and West Coast father-son prospect Harper Banfield followed in the footsteps of his brother and St Kilda midfielder Charlie by winning the 2km time trial at WA Athletics Stadium.
Banfield recorded a personal-best time of 6:11 to finish one second ahead of mature-aged Perth forward Kane Johnston who also produced some eye-catching times across the day including third in the 20m sprint with 3.026 seconds.
Johnston was also equal-first in the vertical jumper alongside Kenh on 82cm with Yeo 1cm behind.
East Perth mature-aged bolter Jake Soutar, who recently won the club’s FD Book Medal fairest-and-best award, finished third in the 2km time trial with 6:32, with South Fremantle and Dockers NGA gun Lucas Robinson on 6:35 which was a PB.
A pair of WA AFLW prospects smashed their PBs in the 1.6km time trial with East Perth’s Charli Bassett and South Fremantle’s Marie Polimeno clocking 5:52 and 5:54 respectively, while Claremont’s India Bonadeo led the way in the vertical jump at 61cm.
