WA Football Bids Farewell to Swans District Legend

It’s been an incredible volunteer journey for Swans Junior District icon Dave Farthing.

Dave commenced his volunteer work within the District as an Auskick Coach at Kalamunda & Districts Junior Football Club, and quickly moved up the ranks to President within 3 years.

Within that role, Dave led numerous community initiatives that saw participation in the Perth Hills reach record levels.

His work at ‘Club Land’ saw him recognised at DFDC level, which saw him promoted to Competitions Director, and subsequently Swans Junior Club Delegate on the Metro Central Regional Development Council.

After over 15 years as a volunteer, 7 of those at a District level, Dave hung up his boots at the recent Annual General Meeting for the Council.

Head of Club Development and Volunteers, Corey Ranger thanked Dave for his incredible work by saying ‘Dave has been a true icon of the Swans Junior District, and his work across the region has certainly been acknowledged’

Mr Ranger went on to say, ‘Dave has been instrumental in the growth of participation across the Swans District, led a number of conference-based initiatives such as ‘Team of the Year’ and was leader in promoting the new RDC governance model’.

As Junior Club Delegate, Dave spent countless hours supporting Presidents and Clubs and working alongside other RDC members in driving participation outcomes across the community.

A feather in his bow this year saw Dave lead an important MOU Participation agreement between 6 Junior Clubs in his District. A feat not achieved in any other junior development zone.

The WA Football family would like to congratulate Dave for this service to junior football and wish him well this his future endeavours.
