Game Day Boost for Junior Football Volunteers

Volunteers are impossible to miss in junior football this year following a major game day initiative.

The Metro Central Junior Football Conference has undertaken the most significant investment in its history towards improving game day across the Perth, East Perth, and Swan Districts zones.

In 2022, every single Junior Club “Match Day Volunteer” is identifiable by a game day vest.

The vests, provided by the MCJFC, deliver a professional and consistent approach to match days, which has in turn improved game-day behaviour across the conference.

Metro Central Community and Club Development Manager Corey Ranger has detailed how the initiative is working.

“We’re extremely pleased to provide 3,800 vests for our clubs this season, we’ve also partnered with our WAFL clubs to ensure each volunteer connected to their District zone wears a vest with the WAFL club logo visible.

The connection and pathway to Perth, East Perth and Swan Districts was critical for the Metro Central region, so as a result the WAFL club logos are on all 3,800 vests,” Ranger said.

Ellenbrook Dockers Junior Football Club President Jack Versaci is delighted with the commitment.

“We’re thrilled to receive the vests, which support our volunteers on match day and helps to provide a consistent approach on game days.

This is a first for the junior competition, so we thank the Metro Central region and the West Australian Football Commission for this important investment,” Versaci said.

This season, 9 new vests have been rolled out across 38 Junior Clubs in the Metro Central Junior Football Conference.

“For the second year in a row, there are more than 400 teams competing across the three Districts.

This remarkable achievement is a credit to the hard-working club committees and volunteers who’ve worked to retain and attract players during the pre-season,” Ranger said.
