The School Ambassador Program is a national AFL program aiming to resource, recognise and reward teachers who promote AFL in schools. Schools are one of the largest vehicles connecting kids to footy, and as such the West Australian Football Commission aims to better equip WA Schools to assist them with getting kids playing.

On Thursday the 1st August, at the Perth Demons and Subiaco match, the Demons District had an event to acknowledge the 21 teachers they identified as reaching ‘Gold Standard’. These teachers were just a handful of hardworking teachers helping grow our game, with 91 schools in the district activating AFL in school.

The teachers have been responsible for distributing resources and education packs to schools and the teachers; assisting in the promotion and delivery of competitions; establishing school-based competitions by liaising with other ambassadors; are positive role models; ensure that the football pathway from schools to clubs are established to help families get their kids in footy.
