Western Australia will launch the 2023 AFL National Championships – U18 Girls when the statestatesides South Australia at Pentanet Stadium in Joondalup on Sunday, April 30.
The Championships will feature the country’s most talented under-18 girls footballers, some of whom may become the next generation of AFLW stars.
The 2023 AFL National Championships – U18 Girls will again feature six teams.
Western Australia, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria Country, and Victoria Metro will all compete, along with the Allies, which will comprise players from the ACT, New South Wales, Northern Territory and Tasmania.
Sunday’s opener between Western Australia and South Australia begins at midday.
It will be the second match of a double-header at Pentanet Stadium, following the 2023 AFL National Championships – U16 Girls match between the same two states, which will conclude that tournament.
WA is coming off a resounding win in the opening match of the AFL National Championships – U16 Girls match against Victoria Country in Melbourne last weekend.
All remaining games in the 2023 AFL National Championships – U18 Girls will be played throughout July and August.
The team that finishes top of the standings will be crowned title winners. If teams finish equal on points, the team with the higher percentage will be awarded the title.
At the conclusion of the 2023 AFL National Championships – U18 Girls, each team will select their MVP, with an overall MVP and All-Australian team to also be selected by a selection panel comprising AFL Talent Pathways staff and AFLW recruiters.
Reigning MVP winner Shineah Goody will again represent South Australia at this year’s Championships.
Goody averaged 27 disposals, five clearances and six tackles per game during last year’s Championships when competing as a 16-year-old.

The 2023 AFL National Development Championships – U16 Boys
WA begins its campaign against South Australia at home on Sunday, June 25.
The Championships begin with a clash between Victoria Country and Victoria Metro on Saturday, June 10, during the King’s Birthday weekend.
The first round of fixtures will be played across four states before all ten teams converge on the Gold Coast for the final two rounds from July 3 to July 7.
The 2023 AFL National Championships – U18 Boys
WA’s first match is against the Allies on Sunday, June 11, at Thebarton Oval in South Australia.
The Championship will be played in June and July, commencing with a game between South Australia and the Allies on Sunday, June 4 and concluding with Victoria Country and Victoria Metro clashing on Saturday, July 15
